Health Studies 200 emphasizes the major aspects of health and health-related areas that concern Canadians. The course explores the nature and causes of health problems and discusses how to prevent most diseases as well as how to treat selected conditions. Specific topics include health and wellness, active living, nutrition, weight, sexuality, reproductive choices, communicable disease and sexually transmitted infection, heart health and disease, cancer and non-infectious conditions, the effects of tobacco, caffeine, and alcohol, and aging. Much of the information provided will be practical, for example, tips for improving health, and information on the importance of exercise.
